Every time I see a giraffe I think of Lamarck’s theory of evolution. They’re such a strange animal when you really think about it too long.
Wonderful! And challenging!
Pretty~
I looked up Lamarck's theory, which Google says is largely discredited. While I can see why Darwin explains the giraffe's neck just fine via natural selection, the argument given against Lamarck is pretty silly: "Modern genetics has shown that changes in an organism's DNA (genotype) during its lifetime generally cannot be passed on to its offspring (phenotype). For example, if someone dyes their hair, their children will not inherit dyed hair." Dyeing hair would not change DNA, duh.
Great!
