Naive Art

It's a school of art made up of artists who lacked formal training, particularly in old European art tradition, where "real" artists were schooled in formal art schools and worked within very specific parameters. Naive artists were not allowed, initially, to be shown in the art salons of Paris which greatly hindered their ability to sell. It's similar today with so-called "outside art" created by artists who have not gone to art school and lack the connections to show in mainstream galleries.
