Pop goes the ice cube!

I thought this was a window during an earthquake. If not for the comments I'd never have known what it was. I'm from the generation when we had metal ice trays with a lever down the center lengthwise that you had to pull to crack the cubes free. Even later, I never saw an ice cube tray that was blue and turquoise or had a salmon-colored shadow.

Ok. A plastic ice cube tray. After the water freezes, twist the tray and the ice cubes pop out. Nucleation - I haven’t seen this word but I am familiar with enucleation. A rather gruesome term in anatomy, here referring to the ice cube popping out of the tray when it’s bent. I am older than some of the people commenting that they were only familiar with automatic ice makers. Yes - a big convenience. (I used to play Vertex from the NY Times-They discontinued the puzzle. So glad when I found Node)

I definitely know what an ice cube tray is but I still didn’t see it in the puzzle and the title is a bit strange. But my dad did train us to refill the tray with water every time. My icemaker and dispenser brings me so much joy!

Well. I did slightly above average - VERY slightly! I seemed to make the wrong choice every time 😡. This puzzle, however, was not as hard as using the kind of ice tray I wrestled with as a kid: those metal trays with the metal dividers, and you had to pull up on a lever to "crack" the ice loose? But cubes never just popped out, they'd splinter and crack and you'd wind up with a couple of small cubes and a lot of chips, a good bit on the floor, and some refusing to come out of the tray at all!

Idk what this is, but I’m mostly sure it’s not a chinchilla. If it is, then egg on my face because I think I know chinchillas pretty well.
