The Oxbow

Oxbow lakes : I remember learning about these in geography class, long ago . Never forgotten it. My recollections are from Norfolk UK , East Anglia ; flat, marshy land and the North Sea.

I live in Northampton and know the view well! 😊

I was way over the average time, but it was worth every second when the picture was revealed. Lovely!

This is beautiful. ❤️

I love a good summer thunderstorm. As long as I’m not flying in it!!!! I wouldn’t be shocked if there were some chinchillas in those hills. I hope they’re drying off ok.

Love the detail and reference to the art keeper picture too

To add on to ManyPeacock's recalled title, "The View From Mt. Holyoke," (because I thought the title was "The Oxbow"), the whole thing is actually, "The View From Mt. Holyoke, Northampton, Massachusetts, after a Thunderstorm--The Oxbow." Rolls right off the tongue! 😆 I remember learning about it being about nature vs civilization, but also in the painting, Cole painted himself as a tiny hiker in a tall hat, in the foreground. And it was in the Art Keeper game, which I will do right after Nodes!
